The Western Bigfoot Society is directed by Ray Crowe. There are monthly meetings, on the last Thursday of the month, except for November and December, each year. The meetings are held at 8622 North Lombard, Portland, Oregon 97203 Phone: (503) 286-6585 Home: 640-6581 eves. Ray publishes a newsletter, The Track Record, for $20.00 year (10 issues), $30.00 foreign, post paid.

Ray Crowe shares most of his Sasquatch information in his newsletters. Not everyone in this field of endeavor shares their information, for different reasons.

Generally Native Americans have a lot of respect for the Sasquatch, they regard them as "Elder Brothers", or "supernatural" beings. Most Native Americans who know something about these beings don't want to do anything that might hurt, harm, or hassle the Sasquatch beings.

Some people want to shoot a Sasquatch, some think that's the worst thing in the world to try to do. Some people don't believe that it's a "real" co-resident of our planet.

A survey of 350 students from the Benson, Lincoln, and Lakeridge high schools in the Portland, Oregon area found that 41% believed there is a bigfoot. (Oregonian, June 12th, 1996, page C1)

"The alleged habitat of the famed Yeti, or Abominable Snowman, will become a major tourist attraction in China next year, the official Xinhua news agency reported. The government recently launched a promotional effort aimed at Chinese and foreign travel agencies in an effort to attract visitors to the Shennongjia region in central Hubei Province. Government scientists have been searching the region since last year in an unsuccessful effort to find the creature. The only solid proof of the Yeti's existence is thousands of giant footprints, the largest measuring 16 inches long, as well as reddish brown hairs collected by some villagers. Shennongjia is renown for its scenery and rich flora. A recently opened park dedicated to the Yeti, as well as a new nature museum and a botanical garden, will be the main destinations for visitors." You should not use your fireplace, because scientists now believe that, contrary to popular opinion, fireplaces actually remove heat from houses. Really, that's what scientists believe. In fact many scientists actually use their fireplaces to cool their houses in the summer. If you visit a scientist's house on a sultry August day, you'll find a cheerful fire roaring on the hearth and the scientist sitting nearby, remarking on how cool he is and drinking heavily. -- Dave Barry, "Postpetroleum Guzzler"
